7 Grooming Mistakes Indian Men Make (And How to Fix Them)

8 July 2026  •  BY MR. STAG EDITORIAL

Good grooming is about more than just appearance — it is about confidence. Yet many Indian men unknowingly repeat the same grooming mistakes every day. Here is how to correct them.

1. Shaving Dry Skin

Always wet your face with warm water before shaving. It softens the hair and opens pores, reducing resistance and irritation.

2. Shaving Against the Grain Everywhere

Shaving against the grain gives a closer cut but can cause ingrown hairs on sensitive areas. Shave with the grain first, then across it for a second pass.

3. Using a Blunt Blade

A dull blade tugs instead of cuts, causing razor bumps. Replace your cartridge every 5–7 shaves for the best results.

4. Skipping Moisturiser

Post-shave skin is vulnerable. Apply a non-alcoholic moisturiser or aftershave balm immediately after rinsing to lock in hydration.

5. Pressing Too Hard

Let the blade do the work. Pressing down too hard increases friction and skin damage. Use light, even strokes.

6. Ignoring the Neck

The neck has multiple hair directions. Use short strokes and go slow around the Adam's apple area.

7. Not Rinsing the Razor

Rinse the cartridge under warm running water after every 2–3 strokes to remove hair and shaving cream build-up.
